DH went non dairy and does not eat soy. We have been looking for recipes to replace his yogurt and rice and chocolate pudding. I tried to do instant pudding with rice milk and coconut milk, but that did not set properly.
Any help?

Or google chocolate avocado pudding. I have made yogurt but with silken tofu so no help if you need soy free too.
Here is a yogurt re pie that could easily be made soy free! http://ohsheglows.com/2009/05/27/homemade-10-minute-yogurt (http://ohsheglows.com/2009/05/27/homemade-10-minute-yogurt)
The avocado pudding I made was fewer ingredients, like avocado, water, cocoa powder, agave/maple syrup/ honey
I like chia pudding made with coconut milk.

currently $2.09 for one small 5.3 oz. container. We stock up when it's on sale for 1.50
I have seen almond dream yogurt too. I really do not like non dairy yogurt that much so have not really tried much of them. The silken tofu one was really good, but that does not help him :D
Yikes! I've never bought it. I've also never tried to make coconut or almond milk puddings, so I can't speak from experience but there are a ton of Paleo pudding recipes that would probably fit the no soy no dairy requirements.

Also most of the non dairy yogurts on the market have carageenan in them.
I haven't made this, but I have eaten it and it was delicious.

You should try making your own coconut or almond milk yogurt. I think someone here did try it? Also rice pudding with coconut milk is amazing. Use full fat coconut milk.

durian? delicious, but ice cream would have to be able to tolerate the odor.

There are also "custard apples" which I ate with abandon while I was in Bangkok, but I've never seen one in the U.S.

The flavor does resemble a vanilla custard, really delicious.

That's what I was thinking of. I just saw a travel show about Portugal that showed it.
I have a new mission and that mission is custard apples.

1. i would be interested in trying one (but my fruit allergies have turned me into a giant wimp).
I've seen them at the grocery store but have never had success with getting them to ripen.
I bought a container of Hemp yogurt yesterday to try (not cheap of course) and i could not even take one taste of it today :toilet: So disappointed.

Good to know. DH tried almond joy yogurt and did not like, either. I made some tembleque with almond milk, and that was not bad at all, but too much sugar IMO.
Most of the non dairy yogurts are nasty, imo. DD used to eat them, but i think because she did not know otherwise :D Now her school shares property with the 7 Stars Creamery, so she gets her fill of real dairy yogurt at school. The coconut ones were the least bad imo. The one i made with silken tofu was good, but your DH is avoiding soy. If he changes his mind, I can get you the recipe. I believe it was from Happy Herbivore.
We also tried hemp "tofu" this weekend and that was vile as well.
hemp yogurt sounds vile
Hemp milk yogurt........ It was DISGUSTING.

I need to get my shit together and get supplies (jar, agar)... I've never actually had coconut yogurt, so I got a little container of it to try. I love yogurt and coconut though, so I'm sure I will like this stuff. Will post as soon as I get some made!
Not really the same thing, but I have seen a recipe where you whip full-fat coconut milk or coconut cream (as if it were heavy cream) and add peanut butter and sweetener to make vegan peanut butter mousse. It would be a different texture than pudding or custard but serve the same dessert-y purpose.
Found another! http://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-recipe/probiotic-cashew-yogurt/ (http://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-recipe/probiotic-cashew-yogurt/)

That's the group that I joined! I make home made hummus. So no problem using the chickpeas from the can.
