I need something for a christmas party saturday. It needs to not be something hot since I live an hour away and it needs to be quick to make because I am super busy this weekend. Give me ideas! There will be about 20 people there.
*The party is at my coworkers house. She is Italian (actually Italian not Italian American) and it will be lasagna for dinner and tiramisu for desert.
why don't you do caprese skewers? they'd be very festive this time of year, too: small mozzarella balls, cherry/grape tomatoes, basil and other yummy things on the skewers. You could make confit of garlic a littel bit ahead and add that as well.

I like the skewer idea, except I'd do more of an antipasto spin - a mozz ball, a roasted red pepper, a marinated mushroom, maybe some sort of cured meat if I didn't need to be veggie.
I love caprese but I'm a tomato snob and don't love the idea of a fresh tomato based app in December.
If you really want something easy: block of cream cheese w/ salsa (or something sweet like cranberry relish) poured over it with wheat thins. Almost no assembly required.
I love those caprese skewers. I made some awhile ago and added a twist; I added sliced strawberry to the skewer, drizzled all with some evoo. Super good!
We have been getting great tomatoes - granted, our seasons are wacky. Strawberry season starts in a couple of weeks.

I can't wait for strawberry season!
marinated olives?
super easy, and you can do them up days ahead of time... this time of year when clementine is easy to find, I like to marinate them with rosemary, clementine peel, garlic, and hot pepper

Our favorite farm opens on the 18th!
So I almost made the skewers but then I got lazy and just made a spinach salad.
