Another day just above freezing, and the predicted showers were nice enough to keep away for my 11K mid day run.
3 mile zone 3 run on a sunny 46° day that's now clouding over.
Indoor ladder workout with 600, 800, 1000, 800, 600 m at threshold effort, and then 3x 150 m. First running workout (other than just running) for two months.
Later I went xc skiing for a bit (30 minutes) but it was 48 degrees and very slushy, season is about over. We might get a few more days but rain and more warm weather are on the way and it's not going to hold up to that for very long.
1km indoor run
Technically today was another off day. But I played around with my watch settings to get it to continue recording in my fitness app even when it's on the charger. (The watch battery won't last as long as my upcoming run is scheduled for!)
After farting around with it for the last week or so, it looks like I have all the correct settings now for "game day".
p.s. when I say indoor run I don't mean the treadmill. I mean running back and forth down the hall. F the treadmill.
It was raining, windy, and chilly at 41°F but I had to get in an interval workout because tomorrow I have an Ocrevus infusion and I have a long run planned for Sunday. So I threw on some merino gear and gritted it out at the local track(had to hop the fence, again).
2 mile warm up, 16X400 at 80 seconds w/ 35 second jog between, and a 2 mile cool down. I'm definitely glad I did it but oh man I'm beat.

What watch do you have?

Apple Watch (Series 10)
Apples are good watches but have never been known for stellar battery life. I figure I'll get 8-10 hours per charge and am planning to charge twice during the race. Cause... gotta have all my data!

I think all smart watches have a similar battery life issue. I used to run with the Pixel Watch 3 and it did a nice job with all my stats but there were two things that made me decide to switch to a dedicated running watch. One was the battery life and the other was the absence of a physical button to start, stop, and pause which made it a hassle in rain or sweaty conditions and sometimes it would give me issues starting races.
So I switched to the COROS Pace Pro and it addresses the physical button thing and way exceeded my battery life expectations. It does just as good a job, if not better, than the Pixel did and the battery lasts like two weeks and not one and a half days.
Anyway, I never really did much of the other smart stuff the Pixel watch did so I'm thrilled I made the switch. COROS has variety of different ones and I'm sure Garmin does too.

I've kinda been there done that with Garmin (to be fair that was multiple product generations ago, but it sounds like others keep having nagging issues with them that sound like my experience back in the day.)
I might look at getting a Coros on my next training cycle (especially if I do another ultra this fall — tbd!)

I know some people swear by the Garmins. Last time I looked into them was generations ago and they were too large and had the issues I think you likely had. I got my COROS in August and I love it, does everything I need it to and the dual band GPS works perfect.
