Expired buttermilk

I have a carton of unopened buttermilk that expired on the 10th. Toss it? I need to make waffles!

Open it and look at it. If it's off, you'll know it. It won't smell sweet and it'll be separated and gross. You can use plain yogurt or any kind of mik + acid to replace the buttermilk though.

If it's unopened it's probably fine, but I agree that you'll know if it's gone bad.
