5 miles around the lake.  That was a good one.

5k with C in the stroller.  I'm loving these country runs, and so does she.  I was a bit nervous taking the stroller out here but traffic is minimal and the cars are really good about getting over.

Went out for a group ride this morning - we were supposed to do a 25-mile route that included a few good hill climbs, but had to cut it short. It was kind of a mess. I dropped my chain within the first 2 miles, then a rider dropped (asthma, didn't feel well, told us), we managed the one big hill climb, waited up top for all riders and realized we were one short - she dropped but didn't tell any of us! Hello, a no-drop ride works both ways! We waited quite a while, and even sent one of the ride leaders back to check on her, and then when the leader didn't come back for a while, one rider stayed to wait for the leader while the rest of us started up again. Then a rider fell behind with a flat tire, basically shredded - she had to piece it together with a KIND bar wrapper. So our group splintered - the two who had gone back/stayed behind actually caught up with her and her flat, and the rest of us were further up, having descended a huge hill and not wanting to go back. Another rider in our group dropped her chain too. And it was raining. So we split up, and a couple of people went back for more hills because they really wanted the full mileage for their ride, the group with the flat doubled back to the start from where they were, and the rest of us took the quickest route back to our starting point, because things had gone on way too long and we'd had it. It was nuts. I got in about 16 miles when it was all said and done, and it took half the day.

Cycling seems way too complicated for me!

Seriously! I was thinking the whole time about how much easier it is to just put on running shoes and get your ass out the door. That doesn't even count the whole rack-on-the-car, pump tires, find bike shoes, helmet, etc. business. Same with swimming...pack shower stuff in the bag, find the goggles, cap, check pool hours at the Y, drive out there, yadda, yadda. Running is so much simpler!
