I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who sees a gain around ovulation. I can't find any research that supports it, but... yeah.
i can't either, but in the 3 or 4 cycles i have had, i have seen a consistent, temporary, rise at ovulation.

and i am still sitting on my butt. thinking a trip to target or something is much more exciting than a prework run :D

I do for sure. I noticed it when I was tracking my weight every day. I would eitehr gain or stop losing. Annoying!

well, i was able to lose about 6lbs, which was not as much as i wanted to lose, but i was losing zero. and not to get too TMI, my sex drive came back, after three years of being totally absent. I complained multiple times to my MW and Dr about it and they just all told me i was stressed and tired. IF I ONLY KNEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gah! So there's another reason for me to be irritated with medical professionals who don't know jack about the female reproductive system. Dammit!

I'm just glad it's not me.

I know!!!! They know that hormonal BC basically shuts down your ovaries. They know that shutting down your ovaries means you produce less testosterone. They know that testosterone is key in sex drive. And yet, no, of COURSE there's no link between hormonal BC and a lack of sex drive. :mad2:

I ran a half on Sunday which I was totally undertrained for and yesterday I was ravenous. I was like a bottomless pit.

And for an amusing story I cannot post elsewhere ...we bought antag black jeans to wear for the wedding. For a change he actually bought pants that fit and wernt all saggy and now he is bitching that they are tight. Jeans are supposed to fit you dude.

merigayle

dude, imagine running 135 miles, i was ravenous for over a week! LOL. Congrats again on the race!

he'll look nice in those pants :) my one friend wore nice linen pants and a Hawaiian shirt at his wedding, she was decked out in a super fancy bridal gown, it worked for them!

Oh, I feel you. Mine's been at zero for maybe 5 years or so. I just never had ANY desire for sex. Once DH convinced me to try, things would be okay, but really, who wants to be talked into having sex, and who wants to have to convince their partner to just give it a shot because it's been a month and that's not fair? GAH.

He'll look great in the jeans, MM. :D And that's awesome about the race!

I haven't had any sex drive in about 8 years. Unfortunately I have been on and off bc during that time and it made no difference. :(

rocketgirl

I am magically down 1.4 from yesterday.  Of course that was buck naked, immediately after my run...

MM, I've been off the hormones for almost a year - since the end of August last year - and the sex drive is just now starting to come back.  :nono:

I think it's really dependent on an individual's distinct body chemistry.

This.  I completely lost my sex drive on Ortho Tricyclen.  But do reasonably well on the equivalent of Ortho Novum 1/35.

And aint nothin' gonna bring it back if it's the relationship and not the hormones.

merigayle

it took a while (more than 2 months) for it to come back. Nothing else changed, and i had a big sex drive after DD was born and it stopped when i got the Mirena, but she was also about 2 months old and i was working, so i did agree it was fatigue and stress.

However, I am now like a 15 yo boy and after DH complaining forever about it, he is like, um, not tonight. LOL!!!  :sidesplit:

True, but a lot of times the hormones cause the low libido and then the relationship gets all tangled up because of it. Meri, that's hilarious!

I think DH resented me a lot for not wanting to have sex with him. I was like Debba, gotta be talked into it or something. Then he felt unloved, low self esteem and it really caused a lot of issues. Not saying it was all the issues, but i think it was really one of the biggest in hindsight. We have really struggled with our relationship in the past three years and if i knew this is what would have made it all better, well, sheesh, just wish i had known.  :-\ I did know something was wrong because i always had a big sex drive, but everyone told me i was tired, which i am always tired, atleast the past three years.

That too.  But changing the hormones doesn't always just make it better either.

Yep! Meri, that's it exactly. DH is very physically needy and it made me insane and he had a hard time understanding why I didn't want to get naked all the time. Poor DH.

And RG, no, changing the hormones doesn't always help.
