My family is doing a Thanksgiving potluck on Monday.
I need to bring a dish, but here's the trouble. Half the people there are vegetarians. :(
Anyways- I want to bring a dish that everyone can enjoy. I need suggestions.
Oh- and they don't eat fish either.
And someone is already bringing a squash dish.
do they eat cheese? i have a delicious wild mushroom lasagna recipe, but it calls for milk and cheese.

A few don't eat wheat
>:(
How about a salad? Something with quinoa or lentils? Or maybe cranberry sauce :P
Then you need a vegetable dish. How about a salad. I like to do asparagus, green, bean, tomato and feta salad.
I like cooking. They're expecting me to cook something.
:(

I'm not welcome on Pintrest. I'm not a housewife or gay man.
:'(
I was going to say that this looks fantastic, but it doesn't meet the "no wheat" requirement. It sitll looks fantatsic though, so I'm posting it anyway: http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/crispy-baked-kale-with-gruyere-cheese (http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/crispy-baked-kale-with-gruyere-cheese)
I wonder if you could sub potatoes for the bread? Or maybe roasted cauliflower? GF bread? I dunno.
I love this dish! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Roasted-Garbanzo-Beans-and-Garlic-with-Swiss-Chard-241110 (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Roasted-Garbanzo-Beans-and-Garlic-with-Swiss-Chard-241110)
This recipe is a big hit with my friends: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Risotto-with-Leeks-Shiitake-Mushrooms-and-Truffles-239801 (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Risotto-with-Leeks-Shiitake-Mushrooms-and-Truffles-239801)
I also have a recipe, at home, for a really yummy polenta casserole thingy that's made with greens and goatcheese. I can dig it out if that sounds interesting.
If I'm going to an "away" thanksgiving and bringing something to share, I make roasted acorn squash that I stuff with veggie stuffing. But, again, you have the issue of the non-wheat eaters. You could do a wild rice stuffing instead, I guess.
How about a fabulous dessert? Do you bake?

No. But my Girlfriend does.
Maybe she can bake something, I'll cook something and we'll both bring wine and beer and we'll totally be the heroes.

what about megadarra?
I remembered an awesome dish that I love and is distinctly me.
Sauteed Kale and Parsnips.
I might make an additional side with sauteed or roasted brussel sprouts.
MG- I brought my sweet mash last Passover, and I don't want to be the guy who can't mix it up. ;)
Easy and tasty broccoli and cheese casserole (my kids, now in their 20s, still request this every year)
Two large frozen bags of broccoli
About 1.5 cans of cream of chicken (or cream of whatever) soup
a little milk to mix with the soup
Box or bag of croutons (we like the cheese & garlic)
and one package of sliced american cheese
Put the frozen broccoli in a 9 x 13 (or bigger) dish or pan
Mix the soup with enough milk to make it pourable, and then pour it over the broccoli (usually 1.5 cans is just right)
Put sliced cheese over top
Top with croutons
Cover with foil and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake another 15 minutes.
That's it. For those of us that aren't very inclined to compete with chefs and foodies, this works great.
Cauliflower Gratin - Barefoot Contessa recipe.
this is one of my go to Thanksgiving dishes, I recommend it on here pretty much every year.

What'd you make?
Sauteed kale and parsnips.
It's an awesome dish that is a pretty consistent hit with my friends.

I made two because my mom wouldn't eat it if it had garlic, and my girlfriend can't really eat things with oil right now- she's having stomach issues.
:(
BUT, RA...
I take the kale and chop it coarsely. I leave out the stems which tend to be bitter.
I chop parsnips into small cubes
I heat an element to high
<Traditional Option>
Drizzel 1-2 table spoons of olive oil to coat the pan and add minced fresh garlic. Fry until garlic is cooked
</Traditional Option>
Add 2/3 cup vegetable stock.
Toss all kale into a fry pan
Throw in parsnips
Lid it tightly for 5 minutes.
Stir and reduce heat to simmer for 5 minutes.
Season TYT (Sea Salt, Worcestershire sauce, Black pepper, crushed chiles)
Simmer until liquid is evaporated.
Things to remember: If your kale is bitter, season it more. Especially salt/stock.
Sounds delicious! Greens can be super bitter this time of year, for sure. I like to buy the pre-washed bags of mixed greens but they are too hit or miss right now. After things start freezing the greens get much less bitter.
