I mentioned elsewhere that I learned this summer I don't actually hate cantaloupe... I just hate under-ripe cantaloupe.  Properly musky, heavy and juicy, it turns out I am a BIG fan.

But the best discovery of the summer, related to my cantaloupe epiphany, was this simple salad:  ripe cantaloupe cut into bit-sized chunks, sprinkled with equal parts ground cardamom and ground cayenne and a pinch of finishing salt

I've always sprinkled a little salt on melon. Learned that from my grandmother.  Sharpens the sweetness, if that makes any sense.

Just how easy and delicious Ceviche is to make with halibut!  Oh my!  The perfect summer food.

Ceviche is perfect, isn't it?  So simple and such a great showcase for food's natural beauty.
