Coming up soon!  2 weeks?  Maybe 3?  Who's going to finish on the podium this year?  Who's going to be the first Taps recipient?  Will this be the year the kenyans show up and take it all?  Will the conch blow at 12:42am again?  :hah:

Make it so ESPECIALLY if you are a woman.  And do it soon, so Gary is still around to eat a nice bowl of crow.

You know he just said that to egg them on anyway.  I know there are a few women out here who've had their eye on it that I'd put good money on. 

Just had my annual watching of the documentary.  Definitely recommended if you haven't seen it.  Highly entertaining!

I watched it for the first time a few months ago and it was fascinating in a ‘why the hell would you want to do that?’ kind of way.

I watched the doc a couple of weeks ago.
Laz struck me as kind of an asshole.

He's totally an asshole and would probably be the first to own that.  But in a way that's amusing, as long is it's not at your expesne. 

It's interesting how "why the hell would you want to do that?" and the general notion of suffering is perceived in different ways.  I know Barkley people who'd say "ugh, why the hell would you ever do Badwater?" as well as Badwater peeps who'd say the same in reverse.   Then there's the total looneypantses who'd do both.  :P

Maybe Meri will show up and put Laz in his place!

It's happening RIGHT NOW!!!!   He let them off easy and blew the conch at 8:33am local time.   Maybe the dude who just missed last year will find an extra 6 seconds (plus 2 miles) this year.  Also pulling for Jamil Coury who's a regular ultra vlogger and produces some great stuff.   Here's his Barkley video from last year...

I've been thinking about how they could make the Barkley bigger.
They are limited to 40 by park rules (I believe).
What they could do is run it on two weekends.
The first weekend is the classic Barkley, men only.
The second weekend is for women only.
The course would be the same, and that info would be an advantage for the women.
Any woman who does finish could then only race against the men next year.
