Am I the only one who spends the 4th saturday in June obsessively refreshing the irunfar twitter feed?    :specs:

GOGOGOWALMSLEY!!!

Plugging Along

According to the tweeter Walmsley wins in a course record 14:30:04 on a hot day.

YESYESYESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

Third time is the charm.  Not even a mama bear and her cubs at mile 94 could stop him this time!   Been watching the live finish line feed - over an hour later and still waiting on second place  :runner:

Coyote Mas Loco

big thread at Letsrun, divided between Walmsley fan boys and haters. So much vitriol pouring forth you couldn't tell who was leading or by how much.
I'll stick to running, thank you.

There’s a shock.  I’m a former hater turned fanboy. I see where he definitely rubs people the wrong way, but having dealt with the previous two misadventures at WS and sticking with it and especially now that he finally backed the talk up and nailed it, it’s hard not to root for him.  I guess it’s this subconscious notion that nothing should ever come easy when it comes to 100s and everyone has to pay their dues.  I love the aggressive no-fear style of racing too!  He might blow up 2 out of 3 times, but the third time will be pretty special.

I think it’s cute every time they try to discuss ultrarunning at letsrun.  How many posts did it take before the first “boooo even a mediocre Kenyan would’ve been under 14 hours!” post?  :P

I saw Walmsley's time yesterday and thought that it must be a mistake.   That is so freaking fast.  Superhuman.

8:42 per mile....including of course mountains and heat n' shit.  Decent.

While on the subject of Western States, I just stumbled on this recently.  Good stuff...
