Have had a couple busy race weekends.

Last week did the USATF masters 5K road championships in Atlanta. We also had the team championship on the line for that one. It was warm and muggy (73 with dew point of 72). Course was out 1.5 miles and back on a parallel street, finishing at Olympic Park, and for my age group the field was stacked. I hung back and ran even splits, and my main rival did the same. We were 4th and 5th at 1 mile, about 10-12 seconds back but reeled them in by 2 miles. He almost dropped me a couple times and I was thinking this wasn't my day, but on the final hill (0.2 miles long, with 4-5% grade) I caught up and then threw down the best kick I could muster over the final 0.2 mile to win in 17:29 (91.3% age grade). Our team took 2nd, and thus no chance to win the team title this year.

Then this weekend went to Flint, MI and did the road 1 mile championship on Friday and famed Crim 10 mile race on Saturday. The field was not as deep this week, but had some good competition. Ran 5:13 (87.9% age grade) for another win, making it 4 golds for 2018 and I think it's enough to win the overall Grand Prix for the year. And our team won this time, so we're not giving up even though we can't win it this year.

Saturday was the 10 miler (14 hours after the mile). We started and ran a half mile but were pulled off the course due to lightning. Skies opened up for an hour, and we were delayed for 90 minutes. I did 1:01:30, on a fairly hilly course, and ended up as 3rd masters--which was a big surprise. Now I got a week of recovery before taking on the half later next month.
I'll stick to running, thank you.

Whew.  You must be very tired today.   :bow2:
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
