I'll stick to running, thank you.

I read the article.  I just wonder what the logistics of this were.  I mean wouldn't the lion have pulled away?  Would have liked some details.

the guy is giving a press conference today - so you heard it here first, not on yammering where they hardly even run and some get all yitzy if you even mention running

perhaps my middle names should be "a bit snarky," but just sayin...

Meanwhile the state wildlife rangers captured 2 mountain lions in the area, believed to be sibs of the offending lion, and will relocate the animals at a later date.

Only managed to block the dog with her arm to protect her face from a bite (six stitches).  Then finished fourth in 1:25:54.

I read about both.  They're calling her a runner but he's a jogger.  I guess because he wasn't in a race?  Or maybe a 50k training run that ends with killing a predator at the end doesn't merit a "runner" designation.

At letsrun there are always naysayers and denigrators. So according to the necropsy the young lion was only 35 or 40 lb. Therefore, should have been no match for Kaufmann and not a big deal.

If they know so much about girls, what are they doing at a Gas n Sip on a Saturday night?

This captures the average letsruner pretty well. Socially awkward and bitter that they can't get a date.

ETA: You missed the reference, didn't you, CML?

Maybe it was from the other article, which I haven't read yet. Otherwise, I don't have access to the codebook.
Nevertheless, diablita's comment seemed to capture an element of the letsrun gestalt so that's why I commented.

I remember the scene, it was a classic. Not sure on the context in this discussion.

Wilson nailed it.  From the tiny amount of time I've spent on letsrun, it's the feeling I get about the posters.  Both more literally and from a figurative standpoint they seem to think they're experts on all things running but  maybe don't do all those things and instead are keyboard jockeys.
