Got a short 1k run this morning to earn some cold weather cred with the north-of-the-border peeps. Going for a long run later after it warms up.

-19C (-2F) and worth it for the gorgeous sunrise today.

Testing gear for extreme cold. Almost got it right with 2 pants layers and 3 upper body layers. The Swix XC ski "lobster" gloves were not enough, save those for mid-teens F and higher ;)

22k long run day. (23k for the day if you include the sunrise run)

-11C at the start and -6C at the finish over 3 hrs later.

It was warmer than the sunrise run but I was already dressed so kept the same stuff on, figured I could peel as-needed. Worked well, I did strip down to bare forearms and "topless" (I.e. no hat!!) at one point during an uphill interval, but basically put most everything back on once I turned around to head back in to the (mild) wind.

Except I upgraded to my extreme Toko XC ski lobster gloves. They did the job when needed (first 5k and last 5k)

I didn't set out to run a half marathon but my legs were feeling ok and it was a pretty day so I took the long way back and rounded it up to 3 hrs and 13.1(+) miles ;)

Accomplished what I needed to do. 4 weeks to go (and 2 more long runs) before my 50k trail race in Feb.

Sending crud, I mean cred your way.   :v1:

Good 15" of snow outside my door, so cross trained my way to 45 minutes of shoveling.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

I forgot to include my shoveling, but I only had the legs to shovel (leftover ice) for 10 or 15 minutes after the impromptu halfie. Good excuse anyway!
