11 hour day with a 5 minute lunch break.  I got fast food for dinner.  I'm exhausted.
:buttpat: I hope you have today off.

Meri, I had paraguard for 10 years. I got it when I was 35. I had some pretty heavy periods the first 3-5 months but after that it was a non issue. I loved it.  I had it removed, and did not get another one because Dh did decide to have a vasectomy. (I love him). (We knew we were not having kids, and did not want any chance of a surprise at our age so he went ahead and eliminated the need for me to have to get a new one.)

Ugh. I am going to get some kind of exercise today in between running around all day.

Has anyone been reading the news about all the unseasonably wet, flooding weather in Hawaii? Primarily in Kauai and Oahu..but Maui is getting hit too.  :(  This is typical for me to have my search for warmth and sun to be thwarted. I leave in a week and it is thunderstorms, hailing and flooding. Great.

Bummer about Hawaii, Mouse!  Maybe it will clear soon?

Yes, I have today off.  I was so tired last night, I felt like I could FEEL the exhaustion in every bit of my body from my hair to my toes.  Today is better.  :)

Magic Microbe

I had too much pizza last night but with weekly points I am still good. Hopefully tomorrows weigh in goes well.

merigayle

mmm pizza.

well, i have been super good 95% of the time for 2.5 months almost with my food, exercising regularly except the one week where DD was sick, so I cannot blame that on my lack of weight loss, so now it is like go thru the list and find out what it is. Mouse-- thanks for the info on the paraguard, that is why i would do it after Badwater, don't need to deal with that until after the race. It's definitely an option i am looking at, but i was 10lbs lighter last year, with the same Mirena, so it is not my first culprit. My friend really thinks it is insulin resistance.

Thank god my son went back to school!  It's so much harder when he is here.. We got out to eat more, get pizza and junk more... When I only have to worry about myself I can just have egg beaters and veggies for dinner!

I'm glad it coincided with my week off from BL contest.  I did pretty much eat what I wanted and thankfully didn't do any damage, but I want to talk off another 10-12 lbs... so back at it today!

From what I've learned about insulin... It seems that it is a critical component.

Hah - okay, I'd read that about paragard, but wasn't sure if that was your reason for saying no, or if you knew something else about it. I'm seriously considering an IUD of some kind after kid #2 and have heard good and bad about both.

I think I'd rather have heavier periods than gain weight.

I've had the mirena now for nearly 4 years and haven't had any issues with weight.  Well, I've had issues, but I'm 99% sure they are due to my actions, not the mirena :D  It's awesome not having periods.  AWESOME.  DH is probably going to get a V at some point, but I'm tempted to keep the mirena just so that I don't have periods.

Same here. Well other than antag getting the v...I don't think I could talk him into that one.

I just managed to get out of au bon pain with only a cup of coffee. This morning's hike was fun but it was less than 4 miles and I didn't burn as much as I'd hoped.

I made a great lunch when I got home- tomatoes papaya tofu cheese and egg scrambled up and stuffed in a whole wheat tortilla.

I'm glad I got out to hike this morning because tomorrow will likely be taken up with family stuff and I probably won't have time to get any exercise beyond dog walking.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

She's an awful, awful human being.

I tend to trust Mini on these issues
Mini is so smart!

Miss

So my doctor said I could start running again a week after my surgery, but I am still having pain and I'm quite tired after doing just housework!  I'm wondering how long I should I wait?  I'm dying to get back into my routine but I don't want to push it and then be forced to take a lot more time off.

Another postive reviewer here! I'm on my second mirena so maybe around 7 years for me? *love* it. I did actually gain weight after getting the Mirena but since better controlling my intake seems to fixing the problem, I have a hard time blaming it on the mirena. Plus, I was on BCP for years and years before going the mirena route. I understand that typically with studies of hormonal birth control and weight gain, anecdata seems strong for correlation but when they actually look into it, there doesn't appear to be much there. Suggesting, perhaps, that hormonal birth control is easier than blaming diet and other factors.

The mirena has mad the question of the V pretty obsolete in our household. As others have mentioned, I'd probably keep it anyway. I get really bad cramps and have zero interest in dealing with that again. The lack of periods (ok, after the first year or two, I end up with one day of very light spotting that the lightest panty liners take care of- sometimes they aren't even necessary) is enough to make me want to keep it, even if that weren't a factor.

So last weekend the same day we joined weight watchers we went to Target to register. In the parking lot they are building some sort of fast food restaraunt. Antag pegged it as an In-N-Out purely based on the shape of the building and he was right.  :yikes: Now it won't be 15 miles away...it will be a couple. I am so in trouble!

merigayle

Miss- i would listen to your body and just walk and see how you feel.

Yeah, i am about 10 years for Mirena.

Bolloxd

Miss take it easy for sure... light exercise to start.

For me the mirena didn't cause weight gain, but I didn't really lose with it either....once it was out I just felt better and the weight fell off easier.  It was my kick in the butt to start running again too.  I think I am over sensitive to any hormones, even natural every day hormones, so I get all of the exaggerated side effects from any type of BC.

I knew there was a seething beast beneath the calm waters.  -Fionn

I'm wondering if the insulin resistance (if that's what it is) could be caused/affected by the hormones in the mirena? I mean, I know it's a low dose of the hormones, but you seem to be doing everything else right, meri.

I dunno, just a thought.

I'm nowhere near needing one right now, so I'm just keeping an eye and ear out to stories about both types.

Have done fine with food today. Was down about 5 this morning. A lot of that was water weight, I'm sure, but I'll take what I can get! Going out tonight, but I'll be fine. No exercise today - it's been pouring rain on and off all day long. We desperately need the rain, so I can't complain too much.

Planning on getting up and doing yoga tomorrow.

who knows. chicken and egg thing, right? LOL. Looking forward to getting some blood work done and hopefully getting some answers. i am so tired of being disgusted with my body and having zero control over it. it is really affecting my self esteem, especially with an upcoming race this month :(

this time change sucks! LOL. DD woke up really early, so maybe she will adjust ok to the time change. I am having a hard time motivating myself out the door for my run, but i ate my prerun Sunday toast, so i have to :D

Weigh in today. Let's hope it is good. Already did a really short run.
