That's so awesome! No one would want me as a billboard for their products. :D

my poor poor soup. i hope my car does not smell too bad when i get in it to go home :D yes, i get 3 shipments of 6 cases of clif bars this year and lots of free shwag. I have a few sponsors for Badwater, nothing huge, but lots of freebies :D I hope to get atleast a free race entry this year from Brooks. They demoted most of their sponsored runners this year, which was fine because i rarely run in Brooks anymore, just wear their clothes.

I am part of the brooks thing, and get the discount.  I only use it on shoes nowadays.  But the shoes are aweseom.  And I'm going to use that Moving Comfort code asap as well.  I need a couple more bras, since some of mine are probably 8 years old.   :yikes:

Sorry about the soup meri.  Sounds like a pain in the ass.  Also sorry about the scales.... could it be faulty?  Your numbers seem to vary so much that I'd be wanting a new scale.  Or one not so accurate, lol.

I'm curious, and impressed, how do you get sponsors?  Do you approach them or the other way around or what?

Today is a no nap day for the kids.  Jesus I do NOT want to enter the no nap phase of childhood.  We did keep them busy this morning with story time and a grocery trip.  David pushed around the carts for toddlers and loved it.

Food has still been rough for me today.

no nap would kill me  :panic:
i always think my scale is broken, not sure i can justify yet another one  :sigh:

I applied for Clif and Brooks and asked my sock company to sponsor me (Injinji) and last year i asked No Meat Athlete to sponsor me at Badwater :)

Not concerned with celiac. Just trying something new with my diet in an effort to help balance out some underlying issues I am having. It's not necessarily GF, because I am still allowed barley (does that have gluten?.) See I don't even know what has it and what doesn't!

I think that REALLY FRIKKIN cool that ya'll have sponsors and get free stuff and coupons and whatnot. The only "sponsor" I have right now is my mama.. and she buys me a new pair of shoes every year for my birthday!  :D

Ran this morning. Now to stay on track with my food intake today. Might need a shot of caffeine this afternoon.

WHY is my child awake??? And making elephant sounds?????

having a hard time with breakfast ideas that are healthy. i may have to concede and just eat non breakfast food for breakfast to stay healthy and low calorie and low carb. I just find all my bfast ideas are pancakes, sweet breads, muffins, etc. I burned out on tofu scramble, but may make some tomorrow or later today to have on hand. I made breakfast cookies yesterday which came out to around 90 cals/piece, but not super filling, even two of them. They were delicious though!

morning.  I'm no help, I just eat the light english muffins with thin cheese slices every day

we're headed down to the Greenville Zoo (in SC) and to Trader Joes.  I'll probably eat some unhealthiness but hopefully walk it off

Smoothie? Luna bars work in a pinch. I did find an oatmeal recipe for my Little Dipper crockpot thing, but I haven't tried it yet. Oatmeal's probably not low-carb, either. :)

Meri, I do better with a higher protein breakfast and some of my staples are: tuna, eggs (wait.. are you vegan?) with lots of vegetables, puffed brown rice cereal with hemp milk and flax meal.

I would much rather eat non-breakfast foods for breakfast than anything else.

teetime

I think getting a low carb high protein breakfast might be hard with a vegan diet unless you get used to being flexible with the breakfast concept.  There are some veggies that I find great for summer breakfast ... red pepper, sliced carrots, cucumber ... all really refreshing.  Some of those with some tofu based or bean based spread?

Will you eat eggs from farm raised free range chickens?  If so, they are great.

Almond milk with fiber one cereal?

caito

Greek yogurt with walnuts, fruit, plain Kashi GoLean is a high protein, satisfying breakfast I eat all the time.    Is greek yogurt vegan?   Maybe soy yogurt?

How many calories do you aim for for breakfast?  Since you run a lot and especially in the morning,  you may need a larger breakfast than what you are used to.

I have been doing smoothies made with yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal.  They keep me full until right before lunch.

I am open to eggs, DD's school raises organic free range chickens and i have bought eggs from the school for DH. I am vegetarian for moral reasons, vegan for health reasons, if that makes sense. It is hard for me to plan my food, because, for example, i ran at 5:30am, then again at 8am. I had a breakfast cookie at 5:30 (90cals) and some sauteed seitan at 7:30 (about 100 calories? high protein), then i just ate some yogurt (10am) and had some berries at home-- so a total of probably 400cals?. A luna bar would not fill me, i ate one the other day at the beach. Oatmeal is ok, but again, i do not find it that filling. I will see if they have any eggs today, otherwise, I will make some tofu scramble tonight for tomorrow's bfast.

they don't keep me full, even with oatmeal in them :( maybe i can have some brown rice for breakfast or something. I dunno. Nothing sounds good to me. I think I am in a food rut and just really unhappy with my weight and my race like 30 days away.

Talk to me about putting oatmeal in smoothies. How do you do it? Does it have to be cooked first?

I am channeling my inner Nancy Clark and I know that she would say 400 calories to fuel 2 runs in the morning is not enough.  How many total miles?   She would advise to eat more in the morning since you need to fuel your whole day.  Then later on in the day, eat less.  If you don't fuel enough, your body will hang on to every calorie it gets.

Following Nancy's plan, I will have eaten about 1200 calories by noon if I wake up at 6am to run 5-7 miles. (This terrified me at first because it seems like a TON!) Total for the day 2,000-2,200 (based on my height/age/weight/activity level at work) I'm not hungry at night now and the weight is coming off.

Nope.  I just spoon it in dry from the big tall, round container.  Then when I blend it up, it gets all blended in to the smoothie.  It's delicious.  And I seriously hate oatmeal.  :D  I can't stomach it cooked AT ALL, so I'm surprised I like this.
