MM,  that must feel so satisfying to run longer than your competition.   Awesome.
Meri,   I'm not a tofu person so can't comment on the recipe.  But at least you know now that your scale can't be too accurate with a 2lb difference.
Diablita,  there were more blackberries to be had but they were surrounded by poison ivy.  :nono: :sigh:
Debba,  oh hell no!  Does your DH know about the texts?   Id be very pissed and find someone else.  That is creepy and unprofessional.

I hit the snooze button too many times this morning.   I hate getting up early ....probably because I stay up too late. We did the toddler gym this morning then went to look around a park...finding new things and places to do with the kids.  They've been very active this week.  Now that they are napping, the minute I try to catch my breath I just want to sleep myself.   So I'm struggling between getting a nap or running.

That is inappropriate. I would probably fire him.
Because PANTS

I've been training with him for almost 6 years, and it's only in the last year - when his fiancee went away to school (to Dallas) for her PT degree - that he's done stuff like this.  :sigh: I just do NOT have the energy for this right now. I'm pissed at DH, I'm PMSing, Reid was a total pill this morning, and now this? GAH. I have no idea what to do.

There are lots of great trainers out there.  If he's being inappropriate with you, tell him to STOP.  If he doesnt', fire him.

Not ok.  :(

debbatx

I did. He was trying to flirt this morning and I told him to stop it. :sigh:

Maybe I should just quit anyway. It's expensive, and surely I can just do pushups and crunches at home or something.

If you quit, you let some creep win.  Fire this guy and hire another trainer who is not a creep and doesn't cancel on you as often as the last guy.

I am guessing your gym would like to know about it. If I were them, I'd be pretty upset.

caito

And yeah, I know that this trainer is also a cop but that is no excuse.  Some cops think they can get away with anything.

I'm sure the gym would like to know about it. At the same time, I'd like to be able to keep GOING to the gym without having to worry about looking over my shoulder constantly. It's the YMCA - there's a pool, classes for Reid, that kind of thing. I'd prefer to not burn bridges.

I'm also really bad at standing up for myself.

This is also a newish trend for him. In 6 years, this is the first year or so that he's done this. It's been sporadic, and, looking back, it's usually when he and his fiancee are having issues. Not excusing the behavior, just trying to show that it's not like I've been putting up with this for 6 years.

I know... it's no fun. When I was about 19 I worked as a receptionist for an office and the office supply delivery guy would always flirt with me and ask me out. I really dreaded it. When I got laid off from that job I was actually kind of relieved to not deal with him again. But then, I got another job doing something similar and a few months later he ended up being the delivery driver there as well. The first time he came in there, he made the delivery and then came back later the same day with a big bouquet of roses. I ended up calling the place and complaining... I never saw him again. I don't know if they fired him- I told them I didn't want him fired, I just wanted him to stop hitting on me. I felt bad for getting him in trouble, but I also wanted it to stop. I can't even imagine getting that from my trainer... I have personal space issues anyway and someone being in that close proximity and being skeevy... makes my skin crawl just thinking of it!!

Courtney

Debba, maybe try some group classes instead?  Mix it up?  Spend the money you save on shoes or wine :D  Win-win.

In all seriousness, I have a male trainer, and he spends a lot of time blushing at us girls.  THere are 4 of us, and we are close to his daughter's ages, maybe a bit older.  So I think he's surprised by the raunchy nature of our conversations!  But he'd NEVER EVER hit on us.  His whole reputation is on the line.

triciaflower

Well is he hot?

Kidding. Actually, I'm not gonna lie, knowing me, There is a small slight chance I might be just a little bit of flattered. Thinking.. "Hey! I still got it!"  :D

Seriously, though, since I've never had a trainer, I really don't know how I'd react. I imagine the close proximity would make it quite uncomfortable to deal with. Is he creepily trying to make the moves on you? Does he really think he even has a chance in hell?!

It's really unprofessional, and not to mention skeevy considering he has an on-off girlfriend. What are you? His back up? GAH! You are paying money for him to do his job. Not flirt.

debbatx

There are no group classes at times when I could go, unfortunately. :( And yeah, I'm going to see how tonight goes. If he says anything other than an apology, I'll say something. If does it again, I'll get through the sessions I've already bought and then quit, I guess, and come up with a Plan B for strength training.  :sigh:

I am SO not in the mood for this.

Tricia, he's not my type, but I can see how others might think he was hot, I guess. And in person, he's never once tried anything. Not once. That's part of what makes it so hard to wrap my head around the texts. WTF? The only thing I can think of was one time I was really down on myself and said something about being a giant fatass and he was like, "What? You're pretty, what are you talking about?" Which was nice, and I didn't take it as a flirty thing at all. But maybe I'm stupid.

And his girlfriend is really his fiancee. They're fighting right now, though, because she's out of town in school and blaaaaaaaaaaaaaah blah blah dramacakes. At this point, after 6 years, he's kind of a friend, too. It's that weird line when you've used a professional for a really long time, you know? Eh.

Oh Debbatx.. I hope he realizes what a douche he's being. I'm not downplaying it, and I'm not trying to make excuses for the guy, but maybe he's just getting cold feet with his fiancee? Trying to test the waters so to speak to see if HE still has game left? In any case, he totally owes you an apology for taking your friendship to an inappropriate level and you deserve to feel like you aren't being hit on. In person or via text.

It ain't right.

You are strong. You can handle him. He doesn't apologize.. give him the  :fiery:

Bolloxd

Deb I'm like you.  I'd feel uncomfortable, bitch about it, and hope it goes away on its own.  But if the flirting doesn't stop then yeah its time to just move on.  A real friend wouldn't want you feeling uncomfortable.

I got a nap in and managed to run this afternoon.  2 miles outside with DH... it was too hot and he had knee issues so I did another 3 on the treadmill.  Felt good that I didn't blow it off totally like I almost did.

If anything, the fiancee is the one getting cold feet. *shrug* But yes, he needs to back off and apologize and if he doesn't... blargh. Move on, I guess.

Diablita, have you been to Tweetsie Railroad with J?  We are wondering if D & R would like it.

Bolloxd, we haven't but have heard good things.  We've been to the Bryson City railway for Day Out with Thomas and it's wonderful -- so much to see and do.  But DOWT in Bryson City is at the end of July and hotter than Hades.  You should give Tweetsie a try.

I had a choice between a trail run or going to a hardcore TRX class tonight and chose the latter -- I so rarely can make that work when I'm working.  It was great -- "cardio blast" so we did 4 sets of multiple strength moves, then a minute of high intensity cardio, then a minute of rest and then another set.  I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow but I can tell that I'm a lot stronger than when I did the beginner class.
