That's awesome everyone.

Still around the same weight. Diet is OK. Not great. Our schedule is very wonky these next couple of weeks, so it'll come down to me planning ahead. I started getting my "Clean Eating" magazine and have a TON of new meal ideas. Sooooo excited!!!

Good morning.  I went to bed at 10 last night (early for me) so when my DD woke me up at 7, I'd had a lot of sleep.  I think I'm feeling better today -- my joints don't ache and I'm not freezing cold in my long sleeves.  (I was at a kids party outside yesterday in sweat pants and a jacket)  Really hoping that whatever that was has passed and I can get back to running/lifting this week.

Debba, how did it feel to sleep in your bed last night?  Did Reid adjust to being back home?

OMG, sleeping in my own bed was AWESOME. The hotel bed was super-comfy, but I always have a hard time with hotel pillows - they're either way too hard or way too smushy. Reid's adjusting pretty well. He got an ear infection while we were there, so I think the medicine at bedtime helps him sleep some (I'm not complaining!), and I think that's going to make it easier to get him back to his normal routine. I hope.

Final vacation result was a 3-pound gain. Not great, but considering my family and their general adoration for all things deep-fried, I'll take it. That puts me up 4 from my lowest point. I can get back down to that point pretty quickly, I think.  :fingers:

that's not bad at all for holiday weight gain.  you'll take it off in no time.

what kinds of things were there to do there?  we have a timeshare in Avon (near Beaver) and will probably start using it in summertime in a year or two.  DH loves the mtb stuff.

It was awesome. Plenty of hiking, and Vail Mountain in Lions Head has hiking and mountain biking trails open all summer, too. You can also ride the gondola up the mountain to a place called Adventure Ridge and hike up there, or they have pony rides, a sand pit, a mini nature center, a rock-climbing wall, and those bungee trampolines. Reid loved the sand pit and liked watching the ponies, but didn't want to ride. J might have more fun up there than Reid and his cousin, since she's a little older. There's a restaurant up there, too, so we went up for the morning, had lunch, and then rode the "gongola" back down for nap time.

Everything is walkable, and there's a free shuttle bus that runs pretty much anywhere you'd want to go. We walked a lot, but we took the bus a fair amount, too, because Reid really, REALLY wanted to ride the "school bus." We rented bikes one afternoon, too, and a trailer for Reid to ride in. DH pulled him, he had a ball, and I'm recovering from the terror of riding a bike - I've never been a confident cyclist. Ever.  :panic:

I loved it. I'd go back tomorrow.

sounds like a great trip :)

i am up a couple pounds, so hankering down this week. I ran for the first time (mainly cause i did not have time last week!!) and my legs were lead, but i did 5 miles, a lot of walking, but it was good to just be alone. DD has been quite a handful lately.

i just bought a spiral vegetable slicer on amazon. sucker or best purchase ever? it makes veggies into pasta, like zucchini, etc. And i can make curly fries for the DD. anyone have one? i was going to just buy a vegetable peeler that julliened (sp?) vegetables, but for it was $17 and this was $31, so i figured it was worth a little splurge.

link please?  I try not to buy gadgets that only do one thing b/c my kitchen isn't big.  But that sounds interesting.

I bought a Zoku popsicle maker recently (the 2 pop one) and it was the best $30-ish bucks I've spent for the summer.  I buy healthy juices (Bolthouse has a berry/veggie mix my DD loves!) and DD loves the process of making popsicles.  Now no more having to run the gauntlet in the frozen dessert aisle and saying "no" a million times.  And the best part is that my DH discovered he loves the popsicles AND making them.  It's the only thing he "cooks".  So they make them together as a reward for weekend napping.  :)

the one i got was prime and $31

when we go to the natural food store or the regular market which has an organic aisle, i do let DD pick whatever she wants out, but we have the old fashioned pop molds for the freezer and put juices as well as choc almond milk in them.

That reminds me of the Rotato. It was an as-seen-on-tv gadget that I always wanted but never got. I bet this one's way better!

OMG.  That was such a great infomercial.  When I was in college, we found and bought a Rotato at WalMart and we busted it out at a party we had.  It was a hilarious hit.

so a rotato is like a potato peeler? does it do anything besides peel potatoes?

It will peel (poorly) whatever you stick on it.  :D

The potato (or apple or whatever) stands straight up and there's one measly little blade, like a record needle.    Your device looks far more useful.

I used the George Foreman grill for the first time tonight.  I like it.

I cooked chicken breasts that I had marinated in a bit of olive oil, sauvignon blanc, garlic, salt, pepper, and rosemary.  Delicious!  Served with wilted spinach cooked with butter, salt, pepper, and garlic.  And of course sauvignon blanc to drink.  And those crescent rolls from a can. Although I guess the crescent rolls with butter probably deviated from "healthy".

My friend who gave it to me came to dinner.  :)
Ellen stole my joy and I want it back!

Oh, memories!

:preen:

DH always teased me for watching that infomercial (and every other one) whenever it came on.
