What do you take and where do you get them?  Any special kind I should be on the look out for?
Go to Whole Foods and ask them.

I just grabbed a box off the shelf at CVS.  They are not cheap.   I think I have the Culturelle brand, or something like that.

That was the one the gastroenterologist recommended!

I mean why would I need to take them if I have no issues?  I think I get all the fermentation I need from all the kimchee I eat!

If you are feeling fine then there is no reason to take them.

OK good!  I just hear so many people talking about them in real life too!  Thought I was missing something!!!

I was in whole foods yesterday and saw the prices...  gee, no need to buy these if you don't have issues.

I keep thinking I want to try them...I don't have major issues, but there are definitely times where I wonder if things are working as they should be.

In other news, I am stalled in terms of weight, which is not entirely surprising since I hit my goal but then lowered it a little. I haven't been super strict, and it's harder to lose even a few pounds at this weight, so if I want to get any lower, I need a couple of solid weeks of not dipping into extra points. But OTOH, I'm decently happy where I'm at, and if there are social things like a lunch out or beers with friends, I'm not going to deprive myself entirely. I'll find the balance. Meanwhile, running a lot is also making me hungry.  :D My new post-run treat is a small glass of skim milk with chocolate Ovaltine. Yum.

I'm still taking the probiotics and still having much less bloating!  I still have IBS symptoms (loose stools from time to time) but that has slightly improved.  The decrease in bloating alone will keep me on them!

Sweet! A poop thread!

piggy backing on the latest thread topic~~~> I take floragen3 probiotics...pharmacist recommended.

I've got a host of lovely problems, the top of the list is microscopic colitis. Loose frequent stools, urgency, yadda yadda.
Those of you who know me recall that I'm doomed to run in the dark of the early morning or to trudge on a TM, due to my frequent need to pitstop.  Gak.

Nothing in western medicine has "cured" it....not steroids, not cholestyramine (which I'm still on) nothing.
GI doc did bloodwork which shows no celiac. She said IBS-D...duh...and I am also guessing an underlying gluten sensitivity adds to some of my issues.

So my next step is to (gasp) suck it up and go GF for 30+ days. Oy. This will be more difficult than it was to lose all my flubber on WW. Oy.

Hey Karen.  Do you go in for your routine colonoscopy screenings?  It's extra important for you.

Yup. Clear as can be for both visits...pink, smooth, healthy.
Must be cuz I eat a healthy diet and "evacuate" so well.
;)

Nothing...until they did three little biopsies during my 2010 colonoscopy, all of which came back positive for the microscopic colitis.

Grrr.

Need to add that my MC is " somewhat controlled " with the cholestyramine. 'somewhat' is the key word. :/
