I just made some really tasty ice cream - vanilla base with cherries and semi-sweet chocolate shavings. It's suppose to be dessert for a dinner party we're having on Wednesday, but it's going to be hard to resist eating it all up!

What are some of your favorite ice cream flavors?

witchypoo

it is not uncommon for me to bake two pies, eat one, and cut the other into chunks and freeze it.

once the chunks are frozen, i add them to the ice cream maker with vanilla base.

fave flavors are apple, peach, blueberry, or straw-rhubarb.

My grandma used to make ice cream with boysenberries from her patch and peaches from her tree.  (not together)  Holy yum!

Incidentally, July is National Ice Cream Month.  Kenyan and I went to the local scoop shop to celebrate.  He had bubble gum, I had moose tracks.

lavender & honey might be my all-time favourite

as far as sorbets go though, cherry & lemon

Hello to you, too!
:D

I like the pie idea, witchy!

My usual fruit-based ice creams are strawberry or peach, although I did make mango one time. We had a lot of Thin Mint ice cream this spring, but the girl scout cookies are all gone now.

I'm totally intrigued by the lavender & honey idea! I haven't tried to make sorbets yet, but maybe that's next on the list.

Huh. I have a hard time imagining dill in a sweet item. Glad to hear it was tasty!

I adore dill,so it wasn't much of a stretch for me!!!

I dislike dill immensely so it doesn't sound good to me, but does sound interesting.

My favorite flavors are salted caramel and pumpkin.  I love it when pumpkin season arrives.

mr. 'poo makes a delicious black pepper ice cream.

teetime

Tahini (or sesame honey) but I only get it when I can go to my friend's house and make it.

Like halvah soft serve for anyone who has had it in Israel.

diablita

sounds good but uber fattening, teetime

Hmmm.

I've had pineapple basil sorbet.  That was good.
Ellen stole my joy and I want it back!

Stawberry frozen yogurt.
Over a toasted waffle.
Under some chocolate sauce.

I haven't had it in a month. I'm on a sugar fast.

Hmm, we have some leftover waffles in the freezer. Might have to try this soon!

last year or the year before I made a thyme-buttermilk sorbet that was very nice... I should do it again.

Some great ideas here! I think I'm going to have to break out the ice cream maker this weekend... I had a cucumber sorbet a few weeks ago that was amazing.

was it sweet?

Homemade my favorites were:

Light chocolate base, a raspberry coulis with chambord, brownie chunks.
Vanilla base, apple pie filling, streusel.
Pumpkin with streusel.
Vanilla base with Marula cream liqueur added.

I would bake the streusel on a cookie  sheet and then freeze.
