I made some in the slow cooker on Friday. I'll never buy it from the store again.
It's easy to make. And I wish the way it made the entire house smell would linger forever.

I canned jars and jars this fall.  dh is currently out to get me a peeler/corer so I can do the bushel we picked from his dads tree a month ago.  I'm with you... will never buy it again.

This one?

I have one and it's VERY handy.  I make applesauce AND buy it because we can never have enough in the house.

Does that one peel and core? It looks like it just cores.
I think there is one that peels, cores and slices.

mmm my fave. I have a huge bag of apples I need to sauce right now. I leave the skins on!

I like mine chunky but you can actually leave the skins and cores in if you run it through a food mill.

If you make it in a crock pot, like I did, how to you deal the skin?
I'm not using a blender or anything after it's cooked. I just mashed them. I wanted the chunks.

peels and cores.  while the ring-looking piece cores the apple, the extended arm below and to the left peels it.

Apple skins are edible!

and the healthiest part of the apple... most fiber.

I don't peel or core... just wash and roughly cut up.  I run it through a food mill after cooking.

the mill presses the pulp through but retains the skin, seeds, stems, paper bits of the cores
