Something I can make in advance in batches either as a punch or in closed pitchers or closed bottles. A wintery drink. I don't have a big bar so beer and wine will be pretty much all I have but I think it would be nice to have one alcohol type signature cocktail for the evening.

Suggestions of what and how to per prepare,it?

I've never heard of those but, I'd try one.

My friend recently served hot mulled apple cider that she got at trader Joe's along with an apple ginger vodka.  She added an orange studded with cloves to the cider in the crockpott and had the vodka on the side.  Delish.

sangria!  citrus is in season, you can get away with cheap red wine, it's pretty

we served sangria last week at a cocktail party.  Ahead of time, I made up a pint-sized mason jar for each batch of sangria with:  1-1/2 meyer lemons, 1 lime, and 2 clementines sliced, juice from 2 meyer lemons, 1 lime and 3 clementines, 4 oz. brandy... capped them and put them in the fridge.  When I made the sangria, I emptied a jar into the pitcher, poured in a bottle of cheap spanish red, measured out a jar of sparkling lemonade and poured that in (also helps rinse the juice and brandy out!).  Stir, add some large ice cubes (I didn't want the ice to melt too quickly and water down the sangria, but I wanted the sangria to stay cold).  You can add more sparkling lemonade to taste... sparkling lemonade is easier than club soda and sugar but not as sweet as soda pop so it doesn't oversweeten the sangria.  Worked very nicely.

As a matter of interest, we had white wine left over from the party and a couple jars of sangria "mix"... I've always been skeptical of white wine sangria but holy moley, I'm a convert now.  Maybe it was the particular combination  of citrus, maybe white wine just makes better punch, I don't know...

I like the hot cider idea.  I don't care for the ginger apple vodka but there is ginger liquer that people could add to their cider.

And I love sangria - very  festive and party friendly to make!

Sorry but the apple cider margaritas sound icky.

How about Sparkling Rum Punch?

    2 cups fresh orange juice
    1/2 cup orange liqueur
    1/2 cup dark rum
2 (750-milliliter) bottles sparkling wine, chilled

Preparation

Stir together orange juice, orange liqueur, and rum in a medium bowl; cover and chill 1 hour. Pour mixture into a large pitcher or punch bowl, and top with chilled sparkling wine. Serve immediately.

If making in advance, combine all the other ingredients and add the sparkling wine just before serving.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

She's an awful, awful human being.

I tend to trust Mini on these issues

Crazy sweet, we've been making it, but cut the sugar, add some cloves and let it sit an additional week.  Served over ice this stuff is tasty

DH made an "apple pie" drink the other night at our party using cider, cinnamon & sugar vodka and whipped cream vodka.  It was a HUGE hit.  I stayed with beer.
