I've run 3 times total since 11/2.. Last Saturday was the last time I ran and the run was so horrible I've been frightened to get back out here..

I've been spinning and ellipticalling and a bit of swimming, so it's not like I'm doing nothing... But I feel like a slug when I don't run.  Consistently..

I'm giving myself til 12/1 and starting up again because I have a half at the end of March... I need help getting my motivation back people!!!!!

Hope you get it back soon. It's a strange feeling, when you want to run and miss it, but aren't feeling it when you do.

I did the holiday run streak last year, with my sister - ran every day between Thanksgiving & New Year's Day. That was great motivation during the dark snowy winter, after a busy fall with lots of races. Because we did it together and talked smack (and raised money for our local food banks), it really was fun and kept me going. Rest days become an easy mile, and running every day becomes almost like a game. If you could do something like that with someone, online, or on your own, it could get you going to the time you start training for the half, but in a fun way.

I don't have time for laundry; I'm trying to have a great life.

Post partum marathon depression.

Harder to get out there on the dark, colder fall & winter days.

How about entering some fun Christmas theme type race that are around?

I go through periods where I lose my zest for running, I go out there and run but it feels like mental drudgery.

Or just go for a walk.  At some point I bet you;ll be tempted to run a little portion of your walk.  Build from there.

I find running down cycles to be physically and mentally necessary. I took the summer and fall off from training (still running, just lower mileage and all easy stuff) and now I am pretty enthused to start training for a spring marathon.

I think it's normal, too.  I have this big time when I run two marathons in the Fall or Spring.

I had pneumonia that derailed me for about 1 1/2 weeks, so I can't really account for the other 1 week except the holidays and guests were here.  I was doing great motivation-wise, and now not so much.  I have a 15k on January 11, so I really need to get back out there.   :(

I'm still not motivated.. I've been spinning, ellipticalling and swimming but I just can't seem to get myself out there running... Boo.. Fight it or just go with it?

Well, if it were me, I would fight it. Here is what I do when I cannot motivate myself well: I pick a pretty place that I do not run very often and make a fun outing of it: drive there, do my run, reward myself with a good lunch at a restaurant, or a dinner if you are going at night.

or I pick a race to train for. I have to 1/2 mar. coming up for that reason in early January.

That does not mean, however, that the other stuff you are doing is not good enough.

I have a race in March that's why I'm strssing

How long is the race?  We are still far away from March!
