not much to write home about on it's own, but Big Fat Llama cab sauv is shockingly good in a sangria.

I have just spent a bit of time on the internet finding out I can't buy Layer Cake or Errazuriz or a bunch of others from this thread here in Newfoundland.

Any new suggestions??

i keep a case of gouguenheim malbec in the house - it's the 'poo table wine.

menage a trois pinot grigio was a nice find.

coppola's claret is probably my absolute fave, right now.

protocolo tinto vino de la tierra - supah cheap, quite tasty.

tazawa

Today I picked up a bottle of Goose Bump Velvety Red 2010 (Sicilian) for $4.49. DW needs something for the roast tomorrow, but she doesn't need a whole bottle.  It's a bit too sweet for me, but it isn't bad.  It should go with some kind of cheese or blood sausage or horsesteak. Too much character for drink alone.  Though I'm managing a glass or two.

Klinker Brick 2010 Zinfandel.

Northstar Walla Walla Merlot is very good!

very nice Pinot Noir (in the old-world burgundy style) from Germany of all places... will wonders never cease!  I bought it on a lark since it was $4 off... I'll be going back to get more before the sale ends.

This a bit pricier than I would spend for a bottle of chard, Rombauer 2013, but man, oh man, it is good! can't post a pic with my ipad, so here's the link:

hi all !

I recommend a Vermentino di Gallura DOCG , it is an Italian wine, of north Sardinia.
it is white and wonderful with a nice place of spaghetti with fish or fish in general.

I don't think I've ever seen Vermentino... I'll have to look for it.  If it does well with fish, I assume it's a fairly dry white?

hi caribougrrl,

yes, you are right. i remember i have drank also a fizzy, crisp version of the Vermentino.
i would like to suggest this one, sparkly, if you can find. otherwise is good also the Vermentino normal. wonderful, : " Vermentino is a light-skinned wine grape variety" .

i suggest with a nice first plate of , for example,
Spaghetti alle vongole.    (spaghetti with clams)

enjoy !!!    :D

I love the Italian wines.  It is probably my favorite wine producing country.  The reds, the whites and at every price point.  Yum.

Not sure if anyone still reads this, but I found a red I really like. I never (well, rarely) drink wine, but after having this at a friend's house, I wanted a bottle.

It's called "The Prisoner"... Weird... I don't know much about it other than it's a red and I got it on sale for $30, so it's normally around $40, I think. I really like it! For me to spend that much on wine... It has to be tasty :D
