{{{{MM}}} I find I don't have an off switch if I have even one drink. If I don't drink I can control myself.
Is there something that is setting the switch to on for you?

Meri I love a bargain! I got a sweater at Kohl's for $5.80 -30% off. I figure if I got to wear it once this spring it was well worth it. I wore it Friday and 4 people commented on how great it looked. I'd say it was a win.

I know I cannot be around sweets which is why I dont bring cake and candy in my home. But I cannot exactly force other people to hide it from me when I am in their home.  :d

I've thought about it long and hard over the years, and I don't want to be that woman who says no to birthday cake.  Blah, blah, blah, fat, refined sugar, white flour, carbs, blah, blah.  I don't care.  I am willing to be a bit fat if it means I can have birthday cake once in a while.

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

She's an awful, awful human being.

I tend to trust Mini on these issues
Mini is so smart!

Yep.  Life is too short for that shit.  :)

I have good friends that are friends with a woman I like to call Ms Stick up her Ass.
She is really thin and I know it takes work to be that way but for crying out loud, loosen the hell up once in a while!
She_NEVER_deviates from her food plan, her workout and I don't know her that well buy probably anything else in her life.

I don't want to be that way either....it's finding a happy medium that we all strive for.

Yep. I didn't have a cupcake at the birthday party we went to yesterday, but that was more of it looking like they might be running low than me denying myself. I didn't want a kid to not get a cupcake because I'd already eaten it. It's also why my goal weight, right now, is at the high end of the range for my height. I want something I can maintain and still eat the occasional cake, ice cream, burger, pizza, whatever. I've just had to recalibrate what "moderation" means to me.

In a way I agree but I wish I could find a way to stop at one slice and not when the cake is gone.  :d

I  know what you mean. OTOH, I don't actually like most cake so I am usually declining for that reason alone. I still feel like I get the "one piece isn't going to hurt" look.

Courtney

I always say no to cake, but that's because I'm saving room for ice cream.  :D

debbatx

I never say no to either. Or to anyone's extra icing.

:hah:

Icing is my favorite part of the cake. I will take a piece of cake just for the icing. I especially like the kind of  icing you get on the cupcakes from safeway. Yes, I know, there is not a stitch of actual food in that stuff- but man is it yummy!!!

Speaking of cake did I tell yall we picked out our wedding cake? 3 layers....one with lemon curd filling, on with chocolate ganache filling, and one with straweberries and cream filling, all white cake with buttercream frosting. I cannot wait!

meh, just regular size, but yummy. This is the only 100 miler that serves cake at the end, they had a big sheet cake with the race's logo on it.

MM-- that is exciting! i only mourn that we did not do a cake tasting. i love cake.

This post brought to you by todays' episode of mom guilt:

I know I said I don't like cake. I don't. But, I do like the cupcakes from this particular cupcake shop. They used to do minis... but now they only do regular size (which is really giant size). I totally fell victim to a craving and bought a smores cupcake. My fav. I ate half of it and then foisted the other half on dd. I had forgotten that she is on a healthy eating kick- a major part of which is not eating sugary treats. Of which I have been reminded by both DH *and* DD this afternoon. So, yes, not only did I cheat myself- but I've pushed my addiction onto my child as well.  :-[

Well considering that it would take me forever to work up to a 100-miler, they better have a goddamn sheet cake just for me. All corner pieces.

RA, don't worry too much. You're aware now, which is huge.

Oh, I knew this was the case... I just spaced. DD and I have had lots and lots of discussions about how to improve her eating lately. BUT she decided to take the dog for a 5mile walk since she was having half the cupcake. :)

I'm making some chipotle bean burritos for dinner. You know what sounds amazing to go along with? White rice with frozen peas, corn & carrots mixed in. WTH?  :eyeroll:

debbatx

You and Reid, RA. He regularly wants to eat his leftover chicken tacos and spanish rice, some fruit smoothie, and maybe a waffle for breakfast.

Yay MM!  Another big decision done.  I'm so excited for you!

So you know the Seinfeld "look to the cookie" bit?  Black & white cookies (which I now want; thank G-d there are no good deli's here) show exactly how my sisters and I are different with sweets and life: one of my sisters only likes the chocolate side, one only likes the vanilla and I only like the thin white/choc stripe down the center.  With cake I only like bites that have equal small amounts of frosting and cake. The corners are definitely my faves.  (but I'd rather eat pasta w/ good cheese any day)
