Hee!  Thanks caito!  :D

Ya'll are making me want a fitbit, but I don't have the extra cash.  I'll just try to cover 5 miles every day...chasing twins is helpful with weight loss.

I did a 3.1 mile run as another test for Saturday's 5K.  Man did that suck....my knee wasn't happy, I felt hot, couldn't get going & just blah.  I'm hoping the cool-ish weather Sat morning will help.  I did my abs & push-ups test.  I can actually do 33 REAL PROPER PUSH-UPS!  Very thrilled about that.  Still not 50, but a nice leap from my initial 12.

I am panicking a bit over food/nutrition for the 5K.  Anyone have any tips for food?   On any day I run I'm usually starving too.  Very hard to overcome.

OMG!  33 pushups is amazing.  I was just doing pushups while leaning on the counter top and I did a sorry 11 (all the while my DH analyzed my form) !  Your are a machine!  :bow2:

Deb - you should rest for a bit before you jump back into working out!

I think everyone should dust off their pedometers and we will get the stepping party started!!

Just got back from my run.. 4 easy miles.. I was at around 4500 when I started and ended at around 11,500, so after my run, I walked to the end of the street and back so I could get past 12000. The fit bit makes you crazy!

I still have laundry to do and some cleaning, which will probably add a few more hundred but I'm mostly going to be couching it the rest of the night watching hockey

i would have a nice dinner the night before with pasta or something with rice, but no need to overdo it portion wise, familiar and bland foods. Morning of I always like to eat toast or a bagel or oatmeal or a muffin, again, something carby but bland. During a 5K you do not really need any calories during the race, unless you feel like you will, then maybe a baggie of animal crackers or a granola bar. After, a nice choc soy milk or choc milk is good, or an ensure. I like to have protein + carbs.

Bollox, I agree with merigayle.   Include some pasta or potato or rice with dinner, but don't overeat.  Drink water the day before.   In the morning, I like a bowl of plain oatmeal and peanut butter or a pb&j sandwich.   And water.   And coffee.

I have learned the hard way that cereal with milk or walnuts are NOT good pre-run foods for me.

I bet you're going to have a great race.  Something awesome happens on race day that you cannot re-create in training.  Your adrenaline kicks in and I bet you will surprise yourself.  :)

I would also avoid eggs. I always find that bananas are good pre race food for me, especially for shorter distance.

Looks like I am going to make 10k before my run tonight so I should be over 20K for the day. You would think I would be skinny not fat since I get this much exercise.  :sigh:

Off for a hot bath.

Enjoy! I hope it helps with the soreness. :)

Well, I did nothing today. I was awake way early (thank you, Bladder.) but mentally, just didn't want to do my Jillian workout. :( And no run after work either. It was nice and cool, too. We're doing state testing at work which means a very intense schedule. It's really exhausting! Will try again tomorrow.... Food was ok, too. I went over a bit (since no exercise), but I'm ok with that. It was salad and avocado and stuff. :)

Thanks, everyone. The bath worked wonders. I'm still sore, but it's workout soreness - I'm pretty sure the wreck didn't do anything to my hamstrings - not car-wreck soreness. A good night's sleep will help, too, I'm sure.

Oh, lots of good tips.  Thanks so much ladies!   :bouquet:

Tons of DFW tomorrow and some pasta with veggies for dinner.  I should really get to bed early too.  That's another tough one for me lately.

Debba - glad the bath helped.  I *love* really hot baths with some epsom salt.  It works wonders.

Well report back on your total!

A little over 10K for the workday plus 5.5 miles of running (didnt use the ped because I cant carry it) so I would say safely over 20k.

diablita

wow!  now you have me tempted to track this.  lol

I am so tired of Passover at this point.
