hi ladies. i have been lurking, not really much to post. i was supposed to run 20 this morning but my running partner's feet are still torn up from our rainy 100 mile trail race 2 weeks ago, so we just did 15 (and it was raining again today, which did not help). I am going to try to feel really invigorated for healthy eating tomorrow. I am planning on getting some 2 a days in this week and i see the Midwife on Wed to have the mirena out  :e)

On the megabus on my way home from NYC didn't eat too badly but didn't track. Walked over 24k steps yesterday -- east side to west side then the entire hi line then downtown to uptown. Did close to 20k today going to the 9/11 memorial and walking over the Brooklyn bridge. I do feel bloated due to lots of salty foods but I think I should be ok once that evens out. I think we covered close to 20 miles walking in 2 days.

Wow, MoS! That is a lot of walking !!!

Yeah and the worst part was yesterday I didn't wear my sneakers because we were going to the theater. I wore sandals but at around mile 6 my feet were killing me. We were able to find a famous footwear where I ducked in and got some supportive Nike flip
Flops on sale but man my feet were burning!

merigayle

Ugh that is the worst! First time to vegas i was not prepare for all the walking and at one point looked down to see bloody feet!!!!!

The party was fun but I ate too much junk and drank. Antag is hung over today so we haven't run but we did do some yard work.

ouch on the bloody feet!  both cities are hell on feet

MM, glad you enjoyed your housewarming

I've eaten too much with my sister in town but I'll work off the extra pound or two this week.  And running 10% of 208 miles on Friday/Saturday.  Fingers crossed that Bolloxd is joining me!  :fingers:

Have fun diablita! gingerbread will be there, no?

I made tofu scramble and misread the directions and put 3tbs of dijon, instead of one :D it still tasted ok, a little overpowering, but not bad.

Just 15!  I can't imagine that.

Lanark is right - jicama is mild and a tiny bit sweet in flavor, but adds a nice crunch.

A week in, the cast/brace are more an inconvenience than anything.  The worst part is, my husband's having a terrible time at work, having to care for me, and now it looks like his father will die in the next week.  It's just so much for him to bear and I'm pretty much powerless to make it easier on him.

Turns out the driver was "visiting" from Mexico for a few days - ha!  Then why was he driving alone at 8 am?   More likely an undocumented immigrant than a tourist.  Luckily the car's owner is insured, and my shark will apply the screws.  Not really worried about bills right now - I haven't seen any, it's all been covered by my health insurance.  When we collect from their insurance, my insurance will want their share, after the shark takes his bite.  All I told the shark is I don't want to end up in debt for this.  He says no way.  Either my insurance or theirs will pay.

Meri - have you tried Sazon Goya with tofu?  Dice the tofu, sprinkle a bit of Sazon Goya, a few cherry tomatoes, a bit of onion and bell pepper, and it's a real treat.  Maybe even some papaya if you have it.  I wrap it up in a whole-wheat tortilla - yum!

Shut up mini. Just because google changed it, doesn't mean in elementary school, we got it wrong.

Mini is so smart!

Mini, the Sazon Goya sounds like a delicious idea!

sorry this is so tough on you and your DH.  I am really sorry to read about your FIL

Mini, I'm sorry this is so tough on you and DH. That's a lot to deal with all at once, for sure. I'm glad your insurance is covering, at least! I'm sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope his passing is peaceful, if that's possible.

I slept like the dead last night, but the good news is that I'm feeling human again this morning, so that gives me hope for the week. Yay!

1! Sorry to hear about the FIL on top of everything right now. :(

So far, so good today. Got up and worked my way through my Jillian DVD. Down another pound this week. With the steady weight training and low-mileage running + decent eating, it's not been too hard. Finally. I've just got about 11 more lbs I'd like to lose if I can. I'm excited about lunch- I'm having debba's orzo pasta salad thing today! I tasted the dressing before I added it and it was yum (though, I used half and half instead of buttermilk!) Calorie-wise, under 400 cals/very generous serving.

Debba- glad you're better today! So, run tomorrow, right?? :)

I am having a lot of good results with weight loss by adding yoga to my fitness regime.

While I don't have any good weight loss stories as a result of yoga, I'm definitely enjoying it too!  :)  I need to add a home session in.

Apparently I can't be left alone.  This weekend DH was gone, and I ate mostly junk food.  I'm embarassed by it.  *sigh*

I worked out 6 days last week.  Two strenght/circuit workouts, two Insanity workouts, 2 spins, and one yoga.  So I need to just focus on that right now.  Otherwise I get cranky with myself.

merigayle

see, if i was alone, i would have an easier time eating well, no bad influences!

Mini- will check that out. Sorry to hear about DH's father :( when it rains it pours.

Hello. I've been lurking a little. I am trying to get back on track now that the house is finally getting settled. The past few months have held a little too much pizza and def. too much booze.

So... now I have a fitbit and I have healthy food and snacks. Here I come!  :D

Bolloxd

Mini - I hope you catch a break soon.
debba - glad you got some rest.
Courtney - that is a lot of working out!
leggova - glad you're enjoying the yoga.  I miss it and should really get back into it.
lanarkshire - yeah for the steady weight loss!
LM - you're up.  I'm sure your fitbit flower will be growing like a weed.

So it seems I am definitely joining diablita for the Smokey Mtn Relay.   :panic: I may be totally insane but I'm looking forward to it, as well as scared shitless!  I ran 5.7 miles today...was hoping to at least cover the longest distance I'll be doing for the race but I was not hydrated or fueled up nearly enough.  Lesson learned, eat better!!  I'm betting the adrenaline will push me along over the weekend.  I will also be eating as much food as possible.

Food today has been coffee & toast, an orange & banana, and some water.  Not really enough for a good run.  Will have to figure out something filling for tonight's dinner.

You're going to have a blast, bollox!  I was so nervous before my relay last fall, but it was more fun than I ever imagined it could be.    You are right, adrenaline is going to help you through, but nutrition and fueling is very important as well.  It can be tricky since you're up all night and eating in a van at odd times, so be sure to pay careful attention to eating right.

The other benefit of the relay for me:  It was a huge confidence boost.  I ran really well, better than I though I would and I came out of that experience inspired and less fearful of pushing myself.
