Only one rule, they can't be currently playing in theaters.
Wall Street
The French Connection
Currently finishing The Parent Trap (original version, not Lindsay Lohan) with DD
Aliens
The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Blue velvet, I want that Dodge Charger!
Gremlins.
Jonathan Banks was in it!! :D
I intend to watch Master and Commander later, thanks SD!
I haven't watched an old movie this week.
JFK? The only good scene is the Joe Pesci freakout in wig.
The Fappening, It had a dynamic ending.
Dark Knight trilogy

I just watched Annie with dd. I remember not much liking it as a kid but as a middle aged woman... So much better! Daddy Warbucks is kind of hot. miss Flanagan is hilarious and that was some really good acting. Annie herself is kind of horrible but also strangely fascinating - she seemed very mature for her years (the actor, not the character)
C also loved it.

I watched The Deep(1977) neat underwater stuff, but the plot lacked logic and got silly towards the end.
Dracula 1979, not scary.
All the Presidents Men
We watched Blade Runner last night. I hadn't seen it in years, and had forgotten how fantastically it was shot. It is a gorgeous film.
Plus, 1982 Harrison Ford is not hard on the eyes, either.
had an eastwood extravaganza with dad; watched "high plains drifter" and "pale rider" for the first time in decades.
Haven't watched anything in a bit, but the boychild and I watched the Dirty Dozen back during the summer when the wimminfolk were away at guides.
The Manchurian Candidate
Enemy(2013)
Interesting, not especially great.
The same director that did Sicario.

Not an old movie, but still somewhat relevant -- I saw the Blade Runner sequel in the theater last night.
Could have used a little more editing (it was super long), but also a treat for the eyes. And really great special effects.
Local Hero
I started watching "Bulldog Drummond" this morning. It stars Roland Coleman and Joan Bennett (1929). Since we get TCM, I record and watch a bunch of old movies.
Narc, not a great movie, but enjoyable. It has an early 2000s vibe, whatever that is.
Cloverfield.
It's a monsta!
I recently rematched "Ali G Indahouse". It holds up.
Little Big Man. Dustin Hoffman is fairly small.
It was OK, very 70s, and the comedy weirdly juxtaposed with the darker scenes.
The Game. 1997. With Michael Douglas. Kind of like the Matrix minus virtual reality
Jumanji! I'd never seen it, but we watched the original a few weeks back, then we watched the reboot a couple days ago. The new one is better than the original. Come to this no of it, this is the first movie I've seen starring The Rock. :D

Did he cook stone soup?
Ummm...no...
Godfather. Still good
Back to the Future.
The kid and I watched it last night/this morning. I always like seeing George McFly stick up for himself. Lotta Biffs in this world!
Just finished watching "Don Juan" (silent movie) with John Barrymore. A lot of "overacting", but worth the watch.
I watched Flight of the Phoenix last week. The 1965 version. I watched it because I read somewhere that Vince Gilligan based the BB episode "4 Days Out" on Flight of the Phoenix. It wasn't bad, but the editing was horrendous, as one scene seemed to jump abruptly to the next, and it wasn't done intentionally, to be artsy. It was just bad editing.

China Syndrome, I was bored to tears. That being said, it wasn't a bad movie, just dull.
3 Days of the Condor.
Now I wanna watch Fargo.
"Ya, it's a Radisson, so it's pretty good!"
The Ox-Bow Incident. It was great. I love good westerns. I hate bad westerns.
High School Musical. Unless you're a 12 year old girl, don't waste your time.

I saw a pirate copy of Glass online. Split is actually a bit better, James Macavoy has more screen time in Split and it was a fairly brilliant performance in that film.

Checked out The Long Haul as part of my snow day with my kid. I laughed, I cried. What can I say, I've been a fan off the Heffley family's misadventures through all the books and the previous movies with different actors (the original Greg is probably old enough to have a family of his own by now :D ). Because this is a not-to-be missed cinematic gem, I won't spoil the fun—will the Heffleys make it to Meemaw's in time for her 90th birthday party? Will Greg make it to the comic con he wants to go to? Will Manny have to give up his pig?

I saw the Hobbit movies (well the first two). Not good. They felt that they needed to stretch a single book into a trilogy, so they added a whole bunch that wasn't even in the book, and dragged it out.
Watched it at home. Don't know why I even watched the 2nd after watching the 1st. I'm embarrassed.

You know my feelings—I'm usually the ultimate book snob, but LotR was wildly better in movie form! The books were a snooze-fest even sans booze!
Speaking of...I read the new book adaptation of Pan's Labyrinth with the kid, then we recently watched the movie. The movie is great, but it's a million times better if you've read the book (the book layers in even more myth and magical realism and adds depth to characters).

Lolz. Regardless, these days I do all my cooking on the weekend so it's just like roasting vegetables to go with whatever I cooked on weeknights. Over the past year (well, 8 months, more or less), a lot has changed, by my choices, in how I live my life. It's often not easy, and I refuse to say anything is forever, but it's good to mix stuff up. :D

I watched The Deep(1977) neat underwater stuff, but the plot lacked logic and got silly towards the end.
Peter Benchley's follow up to Jaws. Just OK.
No way could he be expected to match the success of Jaws.
Jacqueline Bisset in her hey day, and Nick Nolte just before his hot streak.
Eli Wallach, Louis Gossett Jr, and Robert Shaw gave the background some strength.
Benchley also wrote The Island.
A secret pirate society dating back to the 1700s on an uncharted island preying on boaters who happen too close.
No surprise that Michael Caine couldn't carry the film.
At about this time the movies replaced water based villains with aliens, werewolves, and boogeymen with knives and hatchets.

Well, Twilight Zone is an old show, but it passes the test. The twist at the end of each episode is often silly, but still has the ability to occasionally supreeze.

Each episode is 24 minutes long so minimal time investment, unless you binge watch.

I have actually seen most of "Birth of a Nation" several years ago. I had heard about it, and I guess I had to see it with my own eyes. I guess there are things you can't unsee. It was terrible. Had no redeeming qualities unless you were a member of the KKK. I suspect if the "talkies" fad take hold, this thing will fade away.
